Common throughout Mexico, a cascarón is a decorated, hollowed-out chicken egg filled with confetti which may be thrown or crushed over the recipient's head to shower them with confetti.
The story goes that this is the light-hearted interpretation of the Spanish tradition of chastising a child by cracking an egg over their head as a way of showing your disappointment in them.
We wanted to bring the joy and potential jeopardy of the cascarón story to life in as simple a way as possible. Hover your mouse over the eggs to find out if you reveal a confetti sculpture or a messy surprise.

NAUGHTY OR NICE? HOVER OVER THE EGGS TO REVEAL CONFETTI OR EGG SPLATS
To save time, 3D assets were downloaded from Adobe Stock. We chose a series icon shapes synonymous with Mexico, from the cactus to the sombrero.
Cinema 4D
Because we were only using the shape geometry to clone the confetti shapes onto, we needed our icon shapes to be as simple and low-poly as possible. Some we poly-reduced, others we re-created inside C4D.
Spline
Inside spline, we used the clone tool to create our surprise confetti shapes. We then added interactivity and motion using the object states and mouse hover functionality.
