The classic game where decorated eggs of various sizes are hidden for children to find.

After recently playing with LiDAR & 3D scanning apps like Polycam, we wanted to create an experience that gamified a real-world location associated with this fun Easter tradition.

Using scans of the Manchester office, we created a virtual Easter egg hunt, hosting the real-world scene and creating virtual triggers in Vectary.

See if you can find all four eggs from within the virtual space to see what can be found inside.

Polycam

Polycam is a 3D scanning app that is particularly powerful when combined with LIDAR cameras built into modern phones. We used this to scan the front of the office as it simultaneously created the geometry and texture for the space. This is then processed and exported in USDZ from within the iPad app.

Cinema 4D

We took the USDZ from Polycam and used C4D to reduce the poly-count and remove excess, highly dense area in an attempt to improve loading times for the online experience. The texture was recoloured in Photoshop, before the whole piece was exported as FBX-ready for Vectary.

Vectary

We used the powerful variants function in Vectary to add the interactivity to the eggs and cameras. This allows you to add hot-spots and buttons to reveal assets, and change colours and textures, as well as trigger animation.
